Sauvignon Blanc grapes, as the chief
white Bordeaux grapes, are blended with Semillion and Muscadelle to make sweet
Sauternes and dry Graves. Elsewhere it is used to make clean, lighter wines
of interest. In coastal California, the resulting dry, golden wines can have
considerable character.
