Skiing in NH’s Mount Washington Valley: Three Powder Picks

Quintessential New England charm, luxurious accommodations, extraordinary customer service and an award-winning restaurant make the Wentworth Inn a popular year-round destination.

But there’s another reason winter sports enthusiasts return year and after year — actually, there are 13 of them: the ski resorts and XC centers located within 30 minutes of our front door!

The critics agree that NH’s Mount Washington Valley is a truly unique East Coast destination; the area has been declared a top 25 ski town by National Geographic as well as the premiere American ski town by TripAdvisor. And while the Mount Washington Valley offers plenty of perfect powder, we’ve narrowed the list down to three of our favorite spots for exhilarating New Hampshire White Mountain skiing.

Family Friendly Fun

Located in the bustling town of North Conway just 15 minutes away from us, the classic Cranmore Mountain Resort offers 170 skiable acres, 57 trails and 9 lifts, along with a mix of easy, intermediate and difficult trails. From intro to ski and snowboard lessons to camps and seasonal programs, Cranmore’s experienced instructors take beginners from “pizza” to parallel in no time. Teens, meanwhile, will love shredding it up in the terrain parks. Factor in a mountain coaster, giant swing, soaring eagle zip line and tubing park, and Cranmore is truly a one-of-a-kind destination.

Ski History

An awe-inspiring drive from the Wentworth through scenic Crawford Notch leads you to Bretton Woods, famed site of the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference. New Hampshire’s largest ski resort with 464 acres, 52 trails, 35 glades and three terrain parks, Bretton Woods also offers night skiing and riding. Adrenaline junkies will enjoy being pulled by a team of sled dogs or a treeline-topping Canopy Tour. When the kids aren’t in lessons, they’ll be ice skating, tubing and snowmobiling in the resort’s base area.

Two For the Price of One

Less than 7 miles away from us, Attitash awaits: two connected mountains featuring 67 trails designed to suit skiers of all abilities. A combination of standard New English runs, glades, tree skiing and progressive freestyle terrain parks make Attitash a sought-after spot. The Nor-Easter Mountain Coaster offers even more thrills for adventure-seekers. Need another reason to check out Attitash? As the sister mountain of nearby Wildcat, Attitash offers skiers and riders joint lift tickets all season long.

Your Escape Awaits

What do all three of these ski resorts have in common besides some of the best skiing on the East Coast? Each is conveniently located near the charming Wentworth Inn right in the heart of the New Hampshire’s picturesque Mount Washington Valley. Book your next New Hampshire adventure or getaway with the Wentworth and prepare to be transported to a winter wonderland.
