Cross Country Skiing in Jackson
This past Sunday myself and Annie the hotel dog ventured out up onto the Windy Hill trail network up by Black Mountain for a bit of cross country skiing. It actually ended up to be an eight mile cross country ski and the best part, we had it all to ourselves.
With three inches of fresh powder everything was going our way and even I could not fall. I used “Mushers Wax” on Annie’s paws to prevent snow build up and it worked great. Usually she has to stop several times for me to remove the snow that can build up and become as hard as rocks in her paws making it very difficult for her to go far but this wax worked wonderful and as you can see from the photo she loved it. We followed the Bald Land trail for a couple of miles to a nice scenic vista and of course the best part was coming down. Next Sunday we plan to do the East Pasture Trail to the Woodland Trail, that will be a long way!
During the weekend we had some guests looking for an area to Snowshoe and we sent them up to the Tin Mountain Conservation Center here in Jackson which has a dedicated snow shoe trail network. It is interesting also to hike to one of the first tin mines discovered in America.
So, there is always something to do in Jackson and at The Wentworth – come and see us soon and enjoy our winter wonderland.
